Dizzying Spirals!

In art class, we're about to begin a lesson on spirals. According to mathematician Fibonacci, spirals are the most perfect sequence in nature and can be defined as a figure whose curves start from a central point.

There are lots of examples of spirals in the world around us. Take a look below. Do you recognize any of these things? What are they, and where do you find them? Can you think of other examples?

The pictures are of a snail, a galaxy, cinnamon and a Celtic symbol.
You can find a snail in the countryside, a galaxy in the space, cinnamon in a shop and a Celtic symbol in any piece of Celtic art.
Other examples of spirals can be a spring, rolled paper, wires, columns, ring, etc.

Hello Cat! :)

I think that i know what are those things.

In the 1st image we can see a Nautilus Shell. The Nautilus is an animal like a very big snail that live in the sea. We know that its shell is an exact figure, we can find in it the Prime Number. Some kinds of Nautilus are living in the sea now but some species are become extinct.

In the 2nd image we can see a Galaxy with a spiral form. Our Galaxy, the Milky Way, has a spiral form. This image has been taken from the Space or from a Telescope because, from the Earth and a simple view we can't see it.

In the 3rd image we can see cinnamon. The cinnamon (in Spanish called “Canela”) is a spice. It is obtain from the bark of tree. It is use to bring a very good flavor to many types of food.

In the 4th image we can see a Celtic symbol. I'm not very sure but I think that it is the Water Symbol. We can find this types of symbols in the Spanish cities situated in the North-West of Spain, as Galicia.

Are my information true? Classmates try to answer Cat's questions.

GoodBye! :)

Hello everybody!

I can see diferent types of spirals.

A shell, we can find it in the sea.

A galaxy too, from the space. Like the Milky Way our galaxy.

And also a lot of cinnamon, later a Celtic spiral.

The cinnamon we can buy it in a shop and the Celtic spiral we can see it in a necklace or in a bracelet.

Thank you for this images Cat!
