Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone and I hope you all had a very nice Christmas.

I went back to England for Christmas and enjoyed seeing my family and celebrating a traditional English Christmas.

In England we celebrate on Christmas Day- the 25th of December. On Christmas Eve, the night before, we hang out stocking so that Father Christmas can leave us presents. A lot of people also leave Father Christmas a mince pie and a glass of brandy and a carrot for the reindeer.
Our houses are decorated with traditional Christmas plants like holly and mistletoe. We have a Christmas tree that is decorated with baubles and tinsel.

Normally we go to mass at church in the morning and then return home to eat our Christmas lunch.

For our meal, most people have a big roast turkey and we have roast potatoes, parsnips, vegetables, gravy and stuffing.
We also have sausages that are wrapped in bacon and we call these ´pigs in blankets´.

After the meal we have a traditional Christmas pudding which is a brown pudding with raisins, nuts and cherries. It is similar to fruitcake, except that pudding is steamed and fruitcake is baked. Traditionally there is a coin hidden in the pudding and whoever finds the coin has good luck for the rest of the year. Brandy is often poured over the pudding, which is then set a light as it is carried to the table.

We have lots of traditional Christmas cakes and treats at Christmas time.

Also, during the Christmas period, a lot of school perform ´nativity plays´ where they act out the Christmas story.

Can you tell me about Christmas traditions in your country or in your family?

I like how do you celebrate Christmas in England.
I like the way we celebrate it too.
On Christmas Eve, I wear smart clothes and then I go to the church.
After the mass, my parents and my brothers and sister and me go to my grandfather's house. There, we have dinner (typical puchero, turkey, ham, turrón...) with all my cousins and friends and my grandfather.
I love being with all them because they're really fun and I enjoy their company. We spend all night telling jokes, singing carols, and so.
After the dinner, I go with my old brother,my sister, my cousins and some friends to my house in the field. There, we sing, dance, drink, play the Wii, and speak over the fire.
On Christmas day, I stay at home with my parents and brothers and sister. There, we play Spanish cards, and we watch a great deal of films.
On New Year's Eve I have dinner with my grandmother and my mother's aunts here at home. We sing a great deal of carols together, and we take the last photos of the year.
On New Year Day I usually go with my parents and my little brother to the cinema. We also go to visit my grandfather after it.
The 5th January night (this year, 4th January night) I see the Wise Men procession. I like picking up sweets and soft toys. I usually see this procession with my friends.
After seeing the procession, I go home with all my family to open the presents of the Three Wise Men. In my house, this moment is very funny; because we do the game "invisible friend" between the old brothers and my parents. We're very happy openning the presents. Then, we eat the typical cake of the day: Roscón de Reyes. It's a sort of too big donught with cream inside. It's delicious!
The rest of days I go out with my friends, I visit my family, I play with my brothers, etc.
I like Christmas time :)

Hi! :)

I love English Christmas very much!
But, as Carmen has said, I like Spanish Christmas too! :D

I love spend Christmas time with my family. I think the true meaning of Christmas is spending it with the people that love you best and helping the poorest people (not only economically speaking, but also in the moral sense of the adjective).

To explain how do I celebrate Christmas, I'm going to divided it in 5 steps.

• Decoration: I like decorate my house for Christmas time with my brothers. We have three days without classes from 6th to 8th of December, so we make the most of them to do that. We put up the Christmas Tree and, with some human figures, we represent the Navity Scene. Red, white and gold are my favorite colors for Christmas Decoration.

• Christmas: Our holidays starts on December 22nd. That day helds, in Spain, the Christmas Special Lotery. The 24th, we celebrates Christmas Eve and, my family & I, go to my grandparents' house. There, I meet all my cousins, we have dinner together and we sing some Christmas carols. The 25th, the Christmas Day, Santa Claus gives all people in the world some presents. When we open the gifts, we play with them and we spend very good moments in family.

• New Year: On December 28th, is remembered the Massacre of the Innocents. This day is called Holy Innocents' Day, and I have fun telling jokes to my friends and family. On 31st December evening my family & I go to my grandma's home, to celebrates New Year's Eve. When the clock rings at 12 p.m. o'clock, we eat one grape for each stroke to held the New Year's Day. That night we fire some firecrackers and I love it, that makes me so exciting :O! On January 1st I have lunch with my friends, we make a party and we hang around all together.

• The visit of The Three Wise Men: The 5th helds the Cavalcade of Magi to prepare the visit of the Three Wise Men. The 6th of January the Magi visit Spain with their camels and they give children lots of present. It makes children so happy and we spend all the day playing with the new toys. This tradition is originally from Spain. On morning, we have “Roscón de Reyes” for breakfast, a typical Christmas sweet from Spain. It's a kind of big donught tipycally Spanish. How delicious! ;)

• Other Days: I spend the other days of the holidays doing nothing, relaxing, helping needy people and hanging around with my friends. :)

Summarizing, I love Christmas! I love holidays! & I love all people could be happy! :D

GoodBye! :)

This year I have spent the Chrismas time with my cousins. We cooked some meat and a soup. We also sang many carols. They had the Nativity Set and the Chrismas tree.

For New Year's Eve I have been with my parents. My mother cooked a soup and I made some pieces of cheesw with any other things for the star of the dinner. At the end my father prepered the grapes for the entrance of the New Year.

This year I this year I spent several days in Malaga at Christmas.
The others I was with my family.
We had a good time(we ate together,we danced a lot,so on)
I prefer the way that we celebrate the Christmas here in Spain.
On New Year day I was with my family and some friends eating at a restaurant and we had a good time.

I love Christmas time beacuse it is a familiar time in which we are more generous.
