Valentine´s Day!

On the 14th of February is St. Valentine´s Day. It is the traditional day on which people express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards and giving flowers or chocolates.

What happens on Valentines day in Britain?

Each year in Britain, we spend around £503 million on cards, flowers, chocolates and other gifts for Valentine's Day.

Today Valentine's cards are sent anonymously (without signing their name) by a 'secret admirer'.

Flowers are the most common gift given, a dozen red roses or just one red rose.

It is just as common for a woman to send a man a message of love, especially during a leap year´, and on Valentine's Day in a leap year it is the custom that the woman can ask a man to marry her!

Do you celebrate St. Valentine´s day in Spain? Do you have a special day when you can tell someone you love them? What do you think of this celebration?

I think this celebration is very beautiful but I think that if someone loves another person they don't have to wait for a specific day to tell it. It's grateful to hear from your friends and the people you know that you're important for them and that they love you any day of the year.

In Spain, it's typical between a couple to give their partner a carnation or a rose, a cake, chocolates, a ring, or any other kind of present. Teenagers also send letters and cards between them to congratulate the Valentine's Day.

Valentine's is common to celebrate in Spain.
A lot of couples take advantage of this day to express your love and give presents like, roses, chocolates, etc.
Other couples take advantage of this day to travel and relax a little.

But many couples, especially boys tend to take their girlfriends to dinner at a nice restaurant.

And other couples think that there isn't Valentine's day, every day of the year express their love.

Now a days the people send letters, postcards or sweets in general for Valentine's Day.

In my opinion it has an special meaning for the people who are in love but We don't need to say "I love you" only on this day.

Between the teenagers there are exchangings of letters, drawings, chocolates or any type of flower.

Under the point of view of the shops, it is a day of a great deals of sales.

Have a happy Valentine's Day.

I like very much Valentine's Day and it looks very beautiful. In Spain it is common to celebrate it, but some people think it is an invention by the shopping centers to sell more products and make more money. I don't think so, but this day is not very different that other days of the year, because if you love someone, you love them and tell them "I Love You" everyday in your life. However, it's true that on Valentine's Day you feel specially happy and you need to tell your beloved person how much you love them. So, in this day you want express it in a not typical way.
Summarazing, I don't have a special day when I can tell someone I love them, but I make the most of Valentine's Day to express my beloved person the love I feel for her in a not usual way.

Here, in Spain, on Valentine's Day couples are given a lot of presents, tangible (as flowers, love letters, chocolates, ...) and intagible (as love words, affection, kisses, ...). Some other people prefer to have lunch or dinner with their partners in a restaurant.

Have A Happy Valentine's Day! :D
